The Exhibit occupies the central area of the Kaohsiung Pop Music Center .
It is a building that has been undergoing important modifications in the different phases of the project. In the competition phase, we thought of a large green and walkable roof that would shelter a night market (a street food and leisure market very typical in Taiwan). This market would guarantee life and entertainment in the bay on days when there were no concerts and programmed activities.

Once we won the contest in 2011 , this idea was rejected since the government “suggested” us to make a large, closed and heated exhibition hall ( air- conditioned spaces are also very typical in Taiwan). Finally we have built a roof (we did not manage to make it vegetable), under which closed spaces that contain commercial and exhibition programs are combined, and open spaces in the shade where I trust that a great diversity of activities will spontaneously begin to flourish.

Inside , you reach a large double-height space where the second level of the Exhibit looks out. Here you can see one of the complete structural trees. The interior design will be carried out by the company that rents the building, so the project was delivered in the rough, as seen in the photo. I like it like that.

Taking Frei Otto as a reference, we designed a system of branched pillars that allow very few supports and large spans .
These, together with the flexibility of the hexagonal module , make the project very versatile and adaptable to all the program, surface and contour conditions that have occurred throughout the process.
Thus, despite all these modifications, it maintains the foundations and essence of the initial design. This adaptability will also be very important when it comes to hosting different programs in the future.
On the first level at level 0 three air-conditioned spaces are organized, connected by the large roof. They will house two small commercial areas and a large double-height exhibition hall. The three structural circulation cores will allow access and evacuation of the upper floor.
On the second level at level +5 the different exhibition rooms are organized . On this level a large terrace opens to the sea. From the walkway that connects the "Dolphins" we can directly access the exhibit at this level.

The roof , close to the ground at the access with a free height of just over four meters, gradually gains height as it approaches the sea until it reaches 14 meters in height.
The vertical communication cores , made of concrete and with a red roof, also serve to house the facilities and are structurally essential to give stability to the building in the event of an earthquake.
